The Women Cell of Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya was established in 2005 with a sincere attempt to bring about a radical improvement in the condition of women around the rural locality in the neighbourhood. Besides celebrating the International Womens' Day each year, the Cell organizes various awareness programmes and also organizes skill based workshops for women from time to time. 'Janani' a magazine devoted to women is also brought out from this Cell at frequent intervals.
Cultural Development Cell
Acultural development cell has been set up in order to provide opportunity to talented students who are culturally inclined.
The debating society strives to give a platform to students who can speak out by building their public speaking skills which is a crucial attribute for any profession they wish to enter in the future. Debating society is not just meant for competitions, but it is also a platform for exchanging views, forming opinions, sharpening understanding and expanding worldview. Foundation Day Annual Lecture
Foundation day of the college is celebrated annually by organizing Lectures by eminent educationists on relevant socio-academic issues. Besides a Blood Donation Camp is also organised in the eve of Foundation Day.
The NCC is an organization, which provides a golden opportunity for cadets to develop leadership qualities, self confidence, to be disciplined and devoted citizen to promote the cause of national integration and nation building. The college has been running a three year course for NCC cadets (Girls wing) since 1994. The cadets had joined various training campus and participated in various national events. From the session 2015-2016, the College has introduced NCC for the boys wing also.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The NSS unit of the College has a strength of about 100 male and female volunteers. Since the time of inception of the College, the NSS wing of the College has been actively organising various programmes such as offering free medical camps to interior regions, offering flood relief, conducting awareness programmes, legal counseling etc. The NSS unit regularly engages the students in various social service activities and awareness programmes.
The College makes an effort to create teaching learning environment to foster overal development of the instituion. For the purpose IQAC has been established in the year 2004 for academic and non academic activities and governance of the College. The IQAC implements the recommendation made by NAAC Peer Team during the five year re- accreditation of the College.
Extra Curricular & Co-curricular Activities
A large number of co-curricular and extra- curricular activities are undertaken by the institution in helping to identify, promote and polish the academic, social and cultural capabilities of students and teachers.
The different departmental forums organise seminars, symposium, and debatings, amongst the students and invite experts and resource persons from other instituions.
This Cell lays stress on creating awareness among students regarding career opportunities, self employment, entrepreneurship development and higher study prospects outside the state. The Cell also organizes workshops inviting professionals to deliver lectures on future prospects and placement of students. Programmes of career counseling, particularly for final year students are organized at regular intervals for the degree level students.
The College has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards ragging and strives to achieve completely ragging free campus. An Anti-Raging Committee (ARC) has also been setup. The names of the ARC members along with their mobile numbers are also published in this page for the victim or his/her parents/ guardians to lodge a complaint to the chairman of ARC. Therefore the College is placed under CCTV surveillance.
